AOS Typeface — Personal Project

A typeface design created as a personal project.

The Challenge

I wanted to design a typeface inspired by the type used in monograms on old buildings as well as more modern monograms used as company logos.

The Solution

I created the typeface AOS, as a personal project, to explore letters that could be overlapped to create monograms.

The typeface is limited to capital letters only. The design uses only thin strokes which allows the characters to overlap without losing legibility in the individual letters.

Strong geometric shapes, hard angles, and elongated serifs give the typeface its unique appearance

Even though the intent of the project was to create a typeface that could be used to create monograms, the finished alphabet was also suitable for titling and logos.
